(Alexandria, Scotland), 21^st May 2025 – Ben Lomond Scottish Gin, the official Gin of The Open, is proud to announce the launch of its Open Special Edition 2025 – a bold and adventurous gin crafted in celebration of this year’s 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club.

The brand was first named the Official Gin of The Open in 2023, releasing a limited-edition gin to mark The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool. This was followed by a special edition for The 152nd Open at Royal Troon in 2024. Now, for 2025, Ben Lomond returns with a gin that captures the essence of Royal Portrush, using three botanicals foraged directly from the Royal Portrush Golf Course: wild carrot seed, sea buckthorn, and hawthorn leaf. Together, these ingredients distill the untamed spirit of the links into a gin that is complex, coastal, and characterful – much like the course.

Ben Lomond’s signature six-botanical base provides the foundation, delivering a pine-fresh aroma grounded in sweet, earthy spice and uplifted by floral and citrus notes. On the palate, the gin is clean and wild, with hints of anise, carrot sweetness, and nutty warmth, rounded off by a zesty tartness. The finish evokes the Portrush coastline – lingering spice balanced by a burst of citrus and a delicate floral aftertaste.

The Open Special Edition also reflects Ben Lomond’s wider brand story, which is rooted in the meaning of its name – ‘Beacon Mountain’. Derived from the Celtic word ‘Lumon’, Ben Lomond was historically a guiding landmark, where land met sky and east met west. That same sense of adventure and discovery is infused in every bottle, encouraging drinkers to explore and enjoy the freedom of flavour.

Since its launch in 2019, Ben Lomond Scottish Gin has earned a reputation as one of Scotland’s most adventurous gins, celebrated for its bold and versatile flavour profiles. In 2024, it was awarded 98 Points and Double Gold for its Original Scottish Gin at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, one of the oldest and most prestigious spirits competitions in the world.

Ben Lomond Gin will also be opening the doors to its new home and distillery this summer, located in Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond, offering a new chapter in the brand’s story of innovation and craftsmanship.

At The Open at Royal Portrush, Ben Lomond Scottish Gin will feature a dedicated Gin Garden experience, sitting alongside its sister brand Loch Lomond Whisky, the official Spirit of The Open. The Open Special Edition Gift Set will be available to purchase directly from Ben Lomond Scottish Gin online, through various specialist retailers, and at the Ben Lomond stand at The 153rd Open from 17-20 July 2025.

The Ben Lomond Open Special Edition 2025 Gin is available now via the Ben Lomond website. Two formats are available: the Bottle Only pack (6 x 70cl, ABV 43%) at an RSP of £35, and the Gift Set, which includes two branded glasses and a gift carton (6 x 70cl, ABV 43%), at an RSP of £45.
