ECCO GOLF ambassador, Freddy Schott, claimed his first career DP World Tour victory on Sunday in dramatic fashion at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at Royal Golf Club.

Schott, wearing ECCO GOLF STREET 720, produced a gutsy final round five-under-par 69 to finish tied for the lead at 17-under-par.

Schott turned on the afterburners in a dramatic playoff, as his opponent’s tee shot on the second playoff was sent out of bounds, earning the 24-year-old German his first career win on the DP World Tour.

Commenting after his breakthrough triumph, Schott said: “I have no idea [how to feel]. It’s just amazing. I’m just extremely happy, surprised, and I don’t know what’s happening right now. I’m just so happy.

“I could have done it the regular way, that would have also been fine. But to do it this way feels even more special, so I’m just glad it happened this way.”

Schott’s victory marks a major milestone in his career progression – after turning professional in 2021, he won on the Challenge Tour in 2022 before graduating to the DP World Tour later that year.

Timo Vollrath, Head of Global Marketing at ECCO GOLF, commented on Schott’s victory: “Freddy is an exciting talent and we’re incredibly proud to see him secure his first DP World Tour title in such dramatic fashion. My pulse was running far too fast over the closing holes!

“He is a fantastic ambassador for ECCO GOLF and a great representative for our footwear, so we look forward to supporting him as he continues to progress on the world stage.”

In addition to Freddy Schott, ECCO GOLF shoes are worn in competition around the world by Aaron Rai, Lydia Ko, Thorbjørn Olesen, Erik van Rooyen, Thomas Bjørn, and Janet Lin Xiyu among others. For further information about ECCO GOLF, please visit golf.ecco.com
